Student Executive

Student voice is something that plays an essential part in engagement, and a sense of ownership within a school.  Last week I met with a group of students from Years 3 – 6 to discuss issues that are important to our students (pictured here).  This is a new initiative that we have trialled this term that allows our students to have a ‘student voice to leadership’ that we are calling ‘Student Executive’.  Students in Willy Wagtail, Scarlet Robin and Pardalote held class meetings in Week 5 to discuss what they feel needs to be addressed within our school.  Facilitated by the teachers, three students from each class were selected to represent their class by attending the Student Executive meeting in Week 6 to feedback their points.  Our agenda was full, we recorded our conversations via minutes, and now consideration can be given to ideas that can be implemented.  I will make these minutes available to all parents and carers on our school website.  These meetings will happen once a term and different students will have the opportunity each meeting.
